Early Childhood Education Gateways Credential Certificates

Level 2

This certificate is intended for students who are currently employed in the early childhood field as teacher assistants and wish to gain the Level 2 credential for the program's ExceleRate status.  If student is planning to transfer to a 4-year university, it is important to review the GATEWAYS CREDENTIAL LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE to insure seamless transfer from Level 2 to Level 3 and/or meet with IVCC ECE Program Coordinator or IVCC Counselor.  ECE courses are sequenced (fall/spring) and students beginning in the spring semester may take longer for completion of certificate.

Students intending to transfer to a 4-year baccalaureate program must consult with the IVCC ECE Program Coordinator/or IVCC Counselor.  This is imperative to ensure a seamless transfer and move forward with Gateways Credential Level 3 Certificate.  The transfer schools' general education requirements vary, and may affect a candidate's program enrollment or recognition as an Early Childhood Education major.  The passage of the TAP, ACT plus Writing, SAT, or other assessments is required for admission to most ECE majors.

Students must earn a "C" or above in all courses.

This certificate is intended for students who plan to transfer to a 4-year university. All or some of the ECE courses will be implemented into the ECE AA degree depending on the university of choice with the addition of general education courses.  It will also be used for students employed in the early childhood field who wish to gain the Level 3 credential for the program's ExceleRate status.  ECE courses are sequenced (fall/spring) and students beginning in the spring semester may take longer for completion of certificate.
